The overall winner was the ‘cellist, Elizabeth Edwards, who played “Vocalise” by Sergei Rachmaninoff and “Scherzo” by Daniel van Goens. Elizabeth was awarded the top prize of £500. The Adjudicator, Timothy Barratt described her as “a very talented and instinctive musician who really feels the music and is able to communicate very readily and effectively to the audience”. Elizabeth who is 15 years old started playing the ‘cello at the age of 4. She is Principal Cellist with the Surrey County Youth Orchestra
